Local or Network modes on SIP Trunk

On a SIP Trunk (using a NV3140) what is the recommendation for setting the transfer, forward, and feature modes?  Local or Network?

Should this be set globally or within each SIP Trunk (one trunk faces the provider and the other faces the PBX)?

It's a global setting, not per-trunk, and it depends on a number of factors.

If the PBX handles those features, let the PBX do it. The settings really won't make any difference as they'll never be sent towards the 3140 or provider but I'd set to network so the 3140 doesn't attempt to do so.

If the PBX doesn't handle them and the SIP trunking carrier offers those features, then set to network.

If neither the SIP provider nor the PBX supports them and you want to offer them then set to local and the 3140 will do so. You may need to also tweak the SPRE codes in order to make it work the way you want. This is the least desirable as some things like forwarding state may not always survive a reboot.
