By default, un-registered clients’ HTTPS traffic is not redirected. For example, a user with the home page set to a secure HTTPS page will not be redirected when this feature is disabled. To enable the redirection of HTTPS traffic for un-registered users, select the edit icon next to Redirect HTTPS traffic for Un-registered clients, and select Enable from the drop-down menu. Enabling this feature redirects HTTPS traffic to the captive portal. Select Update Domain setting to apply the change.
When a Calibration Job is run, the BSAPs use the power setting based on the RF properties of its neighboring APs, where these APs may be 3rd party APs or other BSAPs either connected to the same vWLAN or a different vWLAN.
- If a BSAP boots with no neighbors, it's power is set to 100%.
- If there are multiple BSAPs in the vicinity, it uses information gathered from each of these neighbors to decide on its power setting. The Power Threshold Index is used in this process to help increase or decrease the power value that Dynamic Power allocates based on RSSI values of neighbors.
- The higher the PTI, the higher the resultant power setting for the BSAPs and alternatively, the lower the value, the more sensitive the Dynamic Power would be to missing/down BSAP events.
The signal inertia is the amount of dBm weight given to existing AP channel before the AP decides to change channels. The lower the value, the more likely the AP is going to remain on the same channel. The higher the value (closer to 0), the more likely the AP will decide it needs to change channels.
We recommend the default values for each. The reason being that is if the PTI is raised, it will tend to push the TX power up on the APs. The default signal inertia value (-15dBm) will tend to keep the channel the same.
If I enable the setting, will that require an update to the AP where users might be affected?
This is all good info, thank you! Sometimes students might have an HTTPS page displayed and won’t be redirected, so they think things are broken since they didn’t try to browse to another page.
